Is There a Minimum Age for Facelift Surgery?

Technically, the minimum age for facelift surgery could be 18, but realistically, almost no one that young needs one. Exceptions are rare and usually linked to trauma -  for example, reconstructive cases where facial structure has been affected by an accident. Most patients considering a facelift in their 20s or 30s do so not for rejuvenation but for beautification. They may have naturally heavy, low-set facial fat that creates imbalance, and a deep plane facelift can reposition this tissue for a more lifted, defined look - even before visible signs of ageing appear.

That said, many patients in their late 30s or 40s start to notice early ageing - small shifts in their cheeks, jawline, or skin texture. These patients often say, “Why wait 10 more years to fix it?” and opt for a facelift that is subtle but effective. By addressing the early signs, they avoid the need for more extensive work later. Of course, the longer you wait, the more areas tend to age together - cheeks, neck, brows, eyelids, lips - so later facelifts often involve multiple procedures to achieve a balanced refresh. It’s not about the number on your passport. It’s about when you feel ready.
